WELCOME TO THE AUSTRALIAN FRIESIAN HORSE SOCIETY (AFHS) WEBSITE
The AFHS is the official representative of the Royal Society “The Friesian Horse Studbook”, Koninklijke Vereniging Het Friesch Paarden Stamboek (KFPS), based in the Netherlands. The KFPS is recognised as the World Wide Studbook and an authority on the Friesian horse. The AFHS was established in 1983, and celebrated its 43rd anniversary in 2026.
If you are new to the breed, we invite you to explore the wonderful world of the Friesian in Australia. If you are a current member of the AFHS, you will find the 'Members Only' section of this site filled with news, information, forms, documents and much more at your disposal.

Mortality Survey Launched.
The Australian Friesian Horse Society is dedicated to the ongoing monitoring and health of our magnificent breed. In July 2026, we are initiating a comprehensive Mortality Survey to collect vital statistics from our members, past and present.
Why Your Participation Matters
Every piece of information provided helps build a clearer picture of the breed's health landscape in Australia. Your insights allow us to identify trends, support veterinary research, and provide members with better guidance on care throughout a horse's life. Please take a moment to complete the survey found on our website. One survey per horse, even if you have already advised the KFPS of the death of your horse, regardless of how long ago this may have been. Click on the image to access the survey.
